The button by the lever does not charge the battery and does not switch the engine off. Eco, Normal and Power change the accelerator map and, on some cars, the air-conditioning intensity as well.
How the modes differ
- Eco — softer throttle, air conditioning less aggressive
- Normal — the everyday compromise
- Power — sharper response, the petrol engine joins in more readily
Energy recovery under braking stays in every one of these modes. Power does not “switch the hybrid off”, and Eco does not save fuel if the car sits in traffic with a cold engine and the air conditioning on full.
